Messengers of Faith

Apparently, the US Marine Reserves' Toys for Tots programme has turned down an offer to donate 4,000 talking Jesus dolls on grounds that they might be mistakenly given to Muslim or Jewish children. According to reports the dolls say "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again" and "Love your neighbour as yourself."

I did a little digging and found the company also produces more than just Jesus dolls. Messengers of Faith also stock, Mary, David, Moses and Esther (only $20 each!). Personally I think they're rather cool.

Update on that story for you...

The Talking Jesus doll issue has been resolved. Toys for Tots has found appropriate places for these items. We have notified the donor of our willingness to handle this transaction.

I was going to suggest that they should take the toys and distribute them among Christian households. Perhaps this is what they will now do.

If that wasn't possible then it would have been reasonable for the ToT programme to not take the toys on. The US Marine Corp and its various programmes are not here to evangelise for my religion, or for that matter, any other.
