Yesterday, Len Duvall, the Chair of the Metropolitan Police Authority, and leader of London Labour, issued a statement attacking Labour politicians, including Tessa Jowell for commenting on the Cash for Peerages investigation and bring into question the Police's integrity. He reminded them that no one is "above the law".
Interestingly, today he's issued another "personal statement" which says,
"on further reflection, and having had the opportunity to re-examine what Tessa Jowell said, I am now quite clear she was not commenting on the way in which police are conducting the inquiry. Also, I was not implying she or her husband were involved in any wrongdoing nor that I had evidence suggesting that was so."Sounds like someone's had a wrap on the knuckles from someone else doesn't it? Naughty Len! No easy seat for you at the next election now!
