Tim Ireland didn't write such a long post this time, but my private prediction that he would get overly excited and "start posting explaining to people how to cut and paste a link in a browser" came true. In fact, I'm so amused with myself I've even broken my own rule and linked to him... twice!
Little things like a five minute javascript hack (oh I wish Blogger had SSI support!) can give so much pleasure, the phrase "Gotcha!" springs to mind. Now, I must get back to reading up on Movable Type and how insecure it is.
Update: The last sentence above did its job too with an update from my little Lassie. He interpreted it, as planned, as a "thinly veiled threat". I bet I could call him and pretend to be his bank and get all his personal details at this rate, he's so easy to manipulate. [Yoda Voice] A social engineering dream he is [/Yoda Voice]
Another Update: Just want to say that apparently, rejecting deeplinking is "not how bloggers behave". For the non-technical the javascript is a little hack that can be circumvented so easily even Tim can do it. What he doesn't seem to understand... again... is he got had.
One last update: Before I leave for the day, apparently, me redirecting Tim's incoming links to the Page 3 website makes me "blind to the cultural side" of this whole "bloggers don't do this" bollocks. What could be more cultural than jokingly redirecting a man who moans about Page 3 all the time to Page 3? No sense of humour, not a self-depracating bone in his body. C'est la vie!
Late: Apparently, Page 3, which has no nipples, or anything remotely different to an FHM cover is now "not safe for work" according to Tim "I do Bush/Blair/Howard spit-roast photoshops" Ireland. What a load of bollocks, didn't realise he was such a prude.
P.S. Yes I am still puerile, but it's the Internet!

Hmm so why do Guido and Iain want to prevent "deep-linking"? It all seems a little childish.
Anyway Bloggerheads can always link to the google cache or make use of tinyurl.com. The latter changes HTTP_REFERER to http://tinyurl.com/create.php.

What is this guys major malfunction? Does he actually think he invented blogging, and that it may only be used by those who abide by his rules? What an annoying plonker this guy is. I know 'instant experts' like this have been around for years, but this guy is such a huge titopotimus. Get a freaking life.

Episode 4: Tim Ireland freaks out about something he can misquote Iain Dale and Guido said and extrapolate it using bizarre logic to say they meant something completely crazy.
Guido 2.0 storms into the Blog Council chambers and demands an answer to this, but nobody else goes there so his demands are only noted by his clone followers.
Episodes 5 and 6
Manic posts a long, long, long diatribe on the evils of his opponents. People are largely put to sleep and thus some of them miss the supposition-gaps in his logic that you could drive a star-destroyer through.
Tim Ireland bravely deletes all star-destroyer-driving comments on the post.
Episodes 1-3 rinse and repeat, with even more hyperlinks that nobody ever reads.

Looks like you'd be surprised by the number of UK companies that have an acceptable use policy that precludes the viewing of the Page 3 site. For some employees, this could result in disciplinary action.
