Arch modernisers set for return to CCHQ as Ashcroft influence grows?

Apparently there is likely to be an announcement later today that two previous Conservative Party Chief Executives are set to move back into CCHQ. CCHQ sources say that Stephen Gilbert CE under IDS) and Gavin Barwell (CE under Howard) who have been working for Lord Ashcroft and supervising the target seat campaign will begin working again in the headquarters at Millbank.

Both men are seen as modernisers and are both well respected in the professional wider party of agents and area campaign directors. The move also suggests an increasing sphere of influence for Lord Ashcroft as he gets his men in the building.
