Anyone notice that when Simon Hughes and Vince Cable announced Ming Campbell's resignation the whole press conference and tone was done as if Campbell had died? Simon Hughes said "I'm now going to let Vince Cable say a few words about Ming" like he was offering someone up to give a eulogy.
OK I know it was a "political death", but on the basis of the tone and look on their faces, if someone turned on the TV and missed the words "Ming Campbell has submitted his resignation as the Leader of the Liberal Democrats with immediate effect" they might think the old man had popped his clogs!

For a moment there I thought he was dead!

Hm...
Well I have had Ming in a deadpool game for ages, now he has retired he may well shuffle off.
I loved Cable tonight, "I don't think he was pushed". That was almost said in the tone of "I don't think, I know". I must say hte whole episode has been shabby, Ming deserved better.
Although the media and press have tried to spin a “plot to oust Ming”, it was in fact themselves (the media, in particular) that had it out for Ming and engineered his downfall. It must not be forgotten that the tabloids, in particular, have the blood of Princess Diana on their hands because they were prepared to pay paparazzi to take intrusive photos of her - and recently they chased Prince William and Ms Middleton. Now the press and media have forced out a man who was too nice for politics and the despicable “ageism” that has been used against him is especially galling.
This wasn't helped by having the BBC News 24 'live' broadcast in 'good ole black [sepia?] and white'..
Had something of the quality of old newsreel footage, which seemed strangely appropriate..
