The MP for Islington and South Finsbury, Emily Thornberry, managed to be the seventh highest spender on postage this year claiming £19,728 in expenses (up £11,793 on the previous year). What's more she even registered a donations the Communications Workers Union, Unite (TGWU Section) and Unison to cover postage costs too in October.
So did she suddenly start to do lots more work this year hence the massive leap in cost? Or did her 484 vote majority start to make her feel edgy and she started to run a proto-campaign with taxpayers money for the election that didn't happen? My guess is she would say the former.

Did the Unions lend her their franking machine?

This story was in Private Eye a few weeks back...
Really? First time I bought it for ages was yesterday. Oh well. Such is life.
