The Government endorsed "five a day" diet?

The love of my life and I have been discussing the whole "five a day" campaign by the Government to make us eat more fruit and vegatables and have come up with the perfect diet.

1) White wine (white grapes)
2) Red Wine (red grapes)
3) Gin (juniper berries)
4) Vodka (potatoes)
5) Cider (apples)

This may fly in the face of the Government's announcmenents and recommendations on drinking alchool, but I reason that one out of two isn't bad! What say you?*
* Please note, Tim Ireland and his decidely idiotic and stupid reasoning about alcoholism have no place in this thread.

Sorry but juice is only allowed to count for 1 of the 5.

Dizzy

You can't get away with that I am afraid, as according to government guidelines potato does not count towards your 5 a day.

Isn't there a cereal ad out at the moment telling us that we need to have three servings of whole grain a day too? Mmm. Limoncello porridge.

Recently, I've been drinking this.

Someone told me it was absinthe. It's certainly alcoholic but I'm not sure pine resin counts for me 5-a-day.

In the local pub recently I was introduced to the brewery's master brewer (and very good at it he is, too). He was drinking cider. Well, what with having to taste the beer at work, that's two of his five.

Of course, white wine is not necessarily made with white grapes; it is the removal of the skins that affects the colour.

Guido would have been able to tell you this... :¬)

Juniper berries are not actually berries in the conventional sense (try putting them on your cheesecake!) and are surely disallowed for that reason.

Ensure that your vegetables have been processed organically by eating the flesh of cows which have eaten nothing but grass or corn. Then it will be safe to eat more.

You lot have have clearly not been listening to Public Health Minister Dawn Primarolo who is busy warning us of our stupidity in not realising that a glass of wine 1/3 larger than another contains More Alcohol.
Which is why we are turning into a nation of binge drinkers. It's because we are thick !
