In this morning's Independent, Lord 'Cashpoint' Levy is the subject of 'You Ask The Questions'. When asked who the next Labour leader should his response was simply 'Barack Obama'.
Made me chuckle anyway.

Seeing how the previous Labour leader was George Bush, I can see where he is coming from.
Would this have anything to do with Obamas speech at AIPAC last week? Just asking...
In a democracy, if you want to fleece the voters, you have to make them feel good about themselves first - hence the victories of Kennedy, Clinton, Blair and maybe Obama (but perhaps he doesn't have enough inspiration).
In any event, certainly not Brown.

Anti-centralist in European terms means eurosceptic and post-Lisbon, EU-rejectionist. If Labour manage to reorientate completely with the likes of Gisela Stuart as leader, then an Obama-like confident declaration of decentralising would outflank Cameron's more muted approach.
Obama for President of Europe - perhaps?
