Well what can I say, still on holiday in sunny Spain and it ends up being the Italians who don't go through and England did - that will teach for me having so little faith. Japanese free kicks last night were awesome. I'm now wondering if Spain will manage or whether the only "giants" of European football in the final 16 are going to be Germany, England and Portugal by the end of the day.
What a crazy World Cup.
Interesting facts. Until last night, no defending World Champion (update as per @burwellian comment: 'and the other finalist from the last tournament') had gone out in the group stages. The last time Italy did go out during the group stage was 1974 when the only goal they scored in their last game was by some guy called Fabio Capello. No team has ever won the World Cup with a foreign manager.
Spooky huh?
Note: I still have Brazil in the sweepstake as a backup :)
P.S. England need to play in red more.
Update: I see Spain made it.
