He's not black he's Sri-Lankan and its spelt 'Abeyakoon', quite a common surname.

Besides, I have it on good authority that he was as if not more keen to anglicise his surname long before anybody supposedly suggested he do it. Aparently at one point 'Wilfred Annesley' was seriously considered.

Personally I think anybody whos ashamed of their colour and/or heritage should be ashamed of themselves.
